Inter-Tec Services Ltd  -  Design  -  Analysis  -  Certification

It has been a lively year so far with a number of developments taking place within the business. As mentioned in previous communications, we moved into our new premises at the Prestwick International Aerospace Park in April. This is a really positive move for us as we now have a well-equipped facility to really help grow the company. We have also been very busy travelling, attending shows and picking up invaluable contacts along the way.

 What's going on at Inter-Tec

Official Opening of the new Inter-Tec office

Now that we are comfortably moved into the new office, it is only right that we celebrate the move with our staff, colleagues and clients. We will be having an official opening ceremony of the office on Thursday 13th June 2013. Alan Fraser, Managing Director of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft, has kindly agreed to perform the opening for us. We are looking forward to the event, an opportunity for our staff, customers and some local politicians to mix, and a chance to generally catch up with everyone in a convivial setting.

Adding even more expertise to the team

With our design organisation approval now well established, and our extensive engineering capabilities, we have seen very encouraging levels of growth over the last year. This has raised the challenge of increasing our number of staff. We are aware that we need to do this in stages, not only recruiting high calibre engineers but also growing at a sustainable level for the business.

Over the last couple of months we have been fortunate enough to recruit two highly experienced engineers to add to our design and stress teams. They bring with them a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge reinforcing the engineering team. Having experienced engineers not only helps motivate and bring on our younger staff but also provides a strong platform for our graduate recruitment plans through the summer.

Increasing exposure in the UAE

As you will know, one of our target international markets is the Middle East and we have been putting much effort making contacts and visiting the area over the last few months. This effort has resulted in design and certification work which allows us to further showcase our capabilities and working methods to potential customers in the region.

Following on from this, Fred Gorrie made a trip to UAE at the end of May which proved to be a tremendous success in terms of meeting many new companies and key people. We now have an extensive list of prospective projects which we are developing, many of them in partnership with Aeropair in Dubai. With invitations to bid, we have already submitted proposals for a couple of projects. We are highly encouraged by progress made to date in the UAE and by the potential opportunities that exist for us in the surrounding region.

Events in the past months

  •  Aircraft Interiors Expo 2013

We attended Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg in April. It’s encouraging to see the event grow year on year. Due to the focused nature of Aircraft Interiors Expo, it is a great opportunity to meet up with old contacts and also track all developments underway in aircraft interiors, especially the huge range of seating options coming to market. This event, as always, brings us many new contacts and more so this year with our EASA Design Organisation Approval in hand.

  • AeroXchange 2013

We used the AeroXchange in Singapore in February to continue our awareness campaign in SE Asia and to pick-up on existing dialogue with a number of companies.  It was interesting to speak to these companies and also have one-to-one off-site meetings. We believe we have a lot we can offer to this market and we are working on a number of proposals in the region and hope to take some across the line in coming months. We have also established a co-operation with academic institutions in Singapore.

  • Aircraft Purchasing & Maintenance (AP&M) 2013

Having attended AP&M which focuses on the MRO and Aftermarket sectors for the last 4 years, this was the first time we had exhibited at the event at Earls Court, London. We felt this event was a good showcase for our capability and service offering especially with our EASA Design Organisation Approval. It was a busy show and proved a great opportunity to introduce one of our high-potential younger engineers to the external facing marketing side of the business.

As always, we will be sure you keep you updated on all our trips and look forward to meeting you in 2013!
